Wellesley retailer London Harness is now selling the world's first single-use mask made using plant-based materials that are lab tested to be as good as if not better than N95 masks.
The G95 Oceanshield biodegradable masks are now available in store or online.
“Everything from the ear loops, to the nose bridge and the G95 filtration technology built-in are all made out of plant-based materials,” said Demian Wendrow, owner of London Harness. “They are lab tested and certified to biodegrade in approximately 90 days in comparison to the 400 years it takes for cloth and surgical masks to biodegrade,” Demian explained.
National Geographic reports that 3.4 billion face masks are discarded every day worldwide. And nearly 1.6 billion face masks wound up in our oceans in 2020 alone, according to Ocean Asia's 2020 Report.
