If you are interested in running for a Town Wide Office, nomination papers are available until January 11, 2024 and are due January 16, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Those wanting to run for a Town Meeting Member spot, nomination papers are available through January 26, 2024 and are due January 30, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Nomination papers are available at Town Hall - at its temporary location at 888 Worcester Street, Suite 140-- between Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Election Day is March 5, 2024 Nomination papers for Town Wide Office seats require 50 signatures of registered voters, but for Town Meeting positions, only 10 signatures are required of registered voters in their precinct . Wellesley's Annual Election will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Nomination papers for interested candidates will be available beginning on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in the Town Clerk's Office at 888 Worcester Street, Suite 140. Individuals may stop by during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Town wide office papers are available through January 11, 2024 and are due January 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Town Meeting member papers are available through January 26, 2024 and are due January 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. For information about all elections and election resources, visit the Local Election Information webpages on the Town of Wellesley website. Nomination papers are available now for candidates to take out from the Town Clerk’s office. To assist potential candidates - individuals who are curious, concerned or interested in following the direction of Wellesley’s current projects – the League of Women Voters of Wellesley held its annual “How to Run for Local Public Office” event virtually on December 1. This program is particularly useful for those seeking office for the first time. The video can be viewed here, a detailed Road Map to Running for office and the Town of Wellesley 2022 Election Candidate Handbook which includes detailed descriptions of each office are also available. The League urges candidates to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the responsibilities of the position they seek. The LWV’s Town Government Handbook 2021, a detailed guide for Town Meeting members, is also found on the website. The League of Women Voters of Wellesley invites members of the community to a virtual presentation, “How to Run for Local Public Office” on Wednesday, December 1 at 7:00 pm. The speakers, Mark Kaplan (Town Moderator) will cover Town Government structure and how it works, and KC Kato (Town Clerk) will review offices on the ballot and the pragmatic nuts and bolts of running a campaign.
